It's awesome you've been captured by your faith in Jesus Christ. You're motivated to grow. You give an hour to a parish committee. Or Bible study. Or the latest series. You attend retreats and listen to programs and read books. All awesome. Our regular commitments reveal what matters most to us. And others.

NOW THE HARD QUESTIONS: If we asked your spouse and children, what would they say about the difference it's made in your home? When's the last time you spent a fraction of that time meaningfully engaged in conversation and prayer with children in your home? If we did an inventory of free time spent over the last week and month, seriously, how much of it was spent together truly becoming saints? Advancing the Kingdom? Together?

And which is more important?

IF IT'S NOT HAPPENING THERE, if family members are not committed to daily, meaningful personal prayer, if family members are not gathering to grow more fully in faith, if family members are not prioritizing people over pixels if family members are not encountering their ultimate mission and purpose that carries them through adolescence and into adulthood, what's the point? In fact, if this most important thing isn't happening, how is all the programming not inoculating them against the whole "Jesus" and "faith" thing? Reducing it to a bunch of religious calisthenics? Why should they bother?

AND IF NOT THEM, if not in our own homes, what have we to say to anybody else in this culture who has embraced the cultural religion? Institutionalization of gender confusion and abortion and promiscuous sexual behavior?

HOME IS THE CORNERSTONE OF CIVILIZATION. Whatever else we do, if we don't get that right, we get nothing right. We reduce the transforming power of Jesus Christ to a myth.
